He created the first dollar chain stores and helped many people support their families. He deserves better repect than your tasteless jokes. Reply Vivian May 4, 2013 @ 6:26 am This joke is in poor taste. Dave is a great man that has done so much for the community and his death was a tragedy to his family and his friends. He was the most selfless man. He never thought about himself and only cared for others. He fought hard to bring his customers the best deals, gave so much to charity and got so involved in the community. He deserves better than this. Reply Larry May 4, 2013 @ 6:55 am I’m embarrassed for Letterman. He’s supposed to be educated, but he made a very ignorant joke. I used to be a fan, but this is in such poor taste. Dave paid for countless people to go to the doctor. How many people did Letterman help? Reply Diana May 4, 2013 @ 6:59 am David Letterman should be embarassed with himself. Joking about such a noble and generous man just days after his death is in poor taste and insentive to his grieving family. Reply Former Fan of David Letterman May 4, 2013 @ 7:00 am Dave Gold of the 99 Cents Only Stores touched the lives of many people. He helped his commnity by giving back. Can David Letterman say the same? Reply Susan May 5, 2013 @ 11:17 pm WOW I would have thought better of David Letterman that to say something so tasteless about the death of a WONDERFUL man, Dave Gold. These are the words I think of when someone mentions Dave’s name, kind hearted, selfless, caring, teacher, and mentor. Kinder words should have been said about someone who gave back so much to the community. He will be missed by everyone. Shame on you.
